Mainland China and Hong Kong’s relationship has always been complicated; this complexity is especially prominent since 2003. The main reasons for such a conflicted relationship stem from issues developing between citizens of both countries, competing for resources, the cultural differences and political conflicts. The conflict between both countries never fails to make the top headlines and is a much-debated topic. My aim here is to use the newspaper to explore and deepen the understanding of the reasons behind such issues and what individuals think about the conflict.
